Competitive Events

The Texas FFA has a proud heritage of hosting many competitive events for its members. Competitive events begin at the local chapter level where FFA advisors train their students to be successful at these events. A district level competition narrows the field of teams to a smaller number that will advance to area level competition. At the area level there are typically a larger number of teams which are vying for the opportunity to compete at the state level. A designated number of teams will advance to state contests held across the state depending upon the service provider institution. A state winner is declared in each event and that team will have the high honor of representing the Texas FFA at a national competition, if there is a national contest in that event category.

Competitive events teach many skills that are needed in life such as teamwork, decision making, critical thinking, effective communication and time management. Competitive events also require students to possess determination, perseverance and commitment. These valuable traits and skills will help prepare them for adult life. Competitive events closely mirror the curriculum taught in the agriculture, food and natural resources courses which also prepare students for their chosen careers. Competitive events are a form of authentic assessment which is needed to effectively prepare students for the world of work.

The Area XII FFA Association is committed to offering high quality and challenging competitive events to its student members each year. Please read through the specific categories on the pages listed under this tab for more information.
